Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Define and Hold Creme

Hey Glam-Lovers!  I recently bought the Herbal Essences Curl Define and Hold Creme and wanted to do a review for all of you glamouristas!

The Packaging:

The colors of the packaging are very pretty.  I love the White, Blue and Purple theme!  The pump is also very unique. It makes it easy to get the product out of the bottle.

On my hair:

When I first took some of the product out of the bottle, I noticed how thick it was.  But, it quickly dissolved into my hair. I like that this product doesn't weigh down my hair. Combined with my Suave Professionals Mousse, I used this product to scrunch my hair.  It looks ok. I think I may be able to get the same affect with just the mousse. I'm sure it can be used in many other ways, though.

Glambition Points:

I changed up the categories for the glambition points because this is a hair product, not makeup. By how it looks, I mean on my hair and by sticking to the promise I mean sticking to what it says it will do for my hair.

So, how glambitous is this product?  Let's find out. Each category is worth 25 points (a perfect score being 100).

Packaging: 25/25

How it looks: 15/25

Price: 21/25

Sticking to the promise: 18/25

This product scored a 79 out of 100. It looked ok on my hair, but not good enough to even show you glammies a picture. My hair was also frizzy and this product is supposed to manage frizz. However, the packaging is nice and it works ok for scrunching. Not to mention it smells amazing!  Now remember, this is only my opinion.  You may like the product more than I do. I am not trying to brag about any of the products mentioned and I purchased all of the products mentioned in this post with my own money.

Have you tried this product? Let me know your opinion in a comment or by emailing us at GlamCity2@gmail.com.  Also, don't forget to leave us a comment with any of your requests!

Tutorial Tuesday- The Messy Bun

Hey Glammies! I'm so sorry I'm late for tutorial Tuesday, but I figured I would show you all how I create my messy bun!

What you'll need:

A hair brush
2-4 Bobby Pins
A hair elastic
Hair spray/finishing spray
A head band (optional)

Step One:  Brush your hair

Just simply brush out your hair to make sure it is smooth and to help eliminate fly-aways.

Step Two:

Take a small section in the front of your hair and divide it into two.  Start twisting them back. When they are fully twisted, insert two bobby pins to hold the twist in place.  You may do this on the other side of your hair if you want, but I just like it on one side of my head.

Step Three: Put it up

Put your hair in a semi-high ponytail.  Then, just make your hair into a bun.  Don't worry about it being tight, since this is a messy bun.

Step Four:

Take your favorite hairspray or finishing spray (I'm using Redken Forceful 23 Finishing Spray) and spray it all over your hair so it does not fall out throughout the day.

Step Five (optional):

Choose your favorite headband and put it in your hair!

Battle Of The Drugstore Mascaras

Hey glamouristas! Today i have Glam City's first battle between drug store mascaras! The 4 that are battling today are two Maybelline and two Covergirl mascaras. I have tried Revlon Mascaras and i didnt like any of them, also i have heard good things about Loreal mascaras but i haven't got a chance to try any.

Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara in Blackest Black

"Break every law of lengthening. 4mm of measurable extensions! Sealing formula + fiber-fix brushWaterproof"  Maybelline.com

Don't get me wrong I love Maybelline products. However, i feel like they exaggerated this product a little. It does make my lashes longer, but not 4mm. Here are some more thoughts on this mascara.

The Brush and Formula:

This brush is really unique, it is as if its on an angle. I really love it because it allows me to get into the corners of my eyes easily. Also i find it separates my lashes well:

Overall the formula is okay, it definitely is waterproof and doesn't clump but i find it gives my lashes no volume. I know its called illegal length, but i still wish it could give me a little boost.
Mascara is on left eye, as in all pictures on this page

Covergirl Lashblast Fusion in Very Black

Experience COVERGIRL's first ever volume + length mascara! The fiberstretch formula and oversized brush make every little lash bigger, fuller, longer-looking, and more dramatic.* Covergirl.com

So basically this is supposed to combine CoverGirls Lashblast Length mascara and Lashblast Volume mascara into one. It does do what it promises by giving your lashes volume and length.

The Brush and Formula:

I like this brush, but i don't love it. I like the size, it makes it easier to get multiple lashes at once, but it is a little bit harder to get the corner lashes. The formula is okay. I find that it is a little bit runny.

Maybelline the Falsies Volume Express Flared Mascara in Very Black

"FALSE LASH GLAM IN A TUBE - NOW GOES FLARED!
300% MORE VISIBLE LASHES. Winged out & over the top, instantly!" Maybelline.com

Volume? Yes! This mascara gives me ALOT of volume. However, it doesnt make my lashes as full as  i would like them to be.

The Brush and Formula:

I love this brush! It is creative, and gives me alot of volume. The formula does tend to clump a little, but overall is great.

CoverGirl LashBlast Volume in Very Black

"Get a blast of lush, volumized lashes! LashBlast's patented volume-boosting formula and patent-pending brush are designed to max out each and every lash, leaving you with the ultimate big-lash look." Covergirl.com

This mascara gives me so much volume and makes my lashes look so full!!

The Brush and Formula:

This brush is basically the same as the Lash Blast Fusion. I like that its big but it is a little harder to get the corners of your eyes.

As for the formula, i love it! It gives me a lot of volume, and makes my lashes look really full. Also it isnt runny like the Lash Blast fusion.

Packaging and price:

As for packaging all these products have very good packaging. The price of the products range from around 6-8 dollars depending where you get them from.

THE WINNER!

So which mascara was the most glamorous? I have to give it to the CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion! I have even tried upper end products also and i always come back to this one! It lasts all day and i love the everything about it! Remember this is only my opinion and other people may think differently. Also if you have any questions or comments leave them below or email us at GlamCity2@gmail.com. Don't forget to follow so you can get emails every time we put up a new post! Spring Eye Look- Green Goddess

Hey Glammies, it's Stella! I wanted to do an eye makeup tutorial today!

Step One: Pick your favorite primer!

I'm using an e.l.f. Eyelid Primer. You can pick it up at Target for just $1!

Step Two: Choose your brush

I am just using an e.l.f. eye shadow brush, but you can use whatever brush you want.

Step Three:

I am using the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette for this look.

Apply the color in the third row down and the fourth column over to your lids.

Step Four:

Take the color in the seventh row down and the third column over and apply it to your crease.

Step Five:

Next, take the color in the third row down and the last column over and gently sweep it over your lid. Or, you can use any light silver color that you have.  This will help soften the green.

Step Six:

Use the color in the first row and the fourth column over and mix it with the white color in the upper left corner.  Sweep this on the brow bone for a highlight color.

Step Seven: Choose your favorite mascara!

Apply it to your lashes until they get to your desired length.

I am using Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara.

The Finished Look:

I hope all of you glamouristas enjoyed this tutorial!  Let us know if you have any requests in a comment or by emailing us at GlamCity2@gmail.com. Don't forget to follow!  Have a glamorous evening!

Some Beauty Products I wish I hadn't bought

Hey Glammies, it's Stella!  I wanted to tell you about some beauty products I wish I never bought.

Covergirl Clean Foundation

So, this was before I knew anything about makeup and I got like 5 shades darker than my skin tone.  I am also not a fan of the packaging.  The bottle is glass so, if I dropped it, it would not end well!  Also, there is not way to squeeze the product out.  You have to stick your finger in the bottle.  The price is inexpensive, but I still wish I hadn't bought this!

Hollister Lip Gloss

I have absolutely no idea why I ever bought Hollister Lip Gloss.  It is thick and sticky and nasty.  I would definitely not recommend it!  It is also blue...?

Garnier Fructis Anti-Frizz Serum

Some people really like this product.  I on the other hand, don't.  It does not tame my frizz and it makes my hands and my hair greasy and oily!  When I use to use it, I would put it into my hair and twenty minutes later..bam! Frizzy hair. WOM- Waste of money!

Sephora Nail Polish

You would think that it would be good quality since it's from Sephora. I don't think it is...it is thick and  always clumps up a smears.  When I finally got it not to smear on all my nails, it started peeling off.  I would be typing on my computer and look down and see green.  My whole nail polish would peel off.  WOT-Waste of time!

Don't forget to let me know what beauty products you wish you hadn't bought in a comment! If you have any requests, please don't hesitate to leave a comment or send us and email at GlamCity2@gmail.com. Don't forget to follow..it's free!

3 Makeup Products I can't live Without

Three Makeup Items I Cannot Live Without

Hey Glam-Lovers, it's Stella!  I wanted to share the three makeup products that I can't live without.

1)  Concealer

Concealer is a must have in anyone's makeup collection!  It can cover of blemishes and problem areas as well as dark under eye circles.  Concealer can also be used as an eye primer.

Currently, I am using Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.

2) Mascara

Mascara is very important to have in your makeup collection! Mascara can make lashes look longer and fuller.  Not to mention, it helps to open up your eyes and make you look more awake.

Right now I'm loving Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara!

3) Revlon Lip Butter

This is a random one, but.. I have to say, I love Revlon Lip Butters!  My lips feel extremely moisturized and look like I'm wearing lip stick! They are very inexpensive and can be found at Target and most drugstores.

Be sure to let me know what the three makeup products that you can't live without are in a comment!  If you would like a review of any of these products or have any requests, leave a comment or email us at GlamCity2@gmail.com.  Also, don't forget to follow!  It's free and you don't need an account..you can just get emails!

My Everyday Hair Routine

Hey Glammy Girls, it's Stella!  I decided I would show you all my everyday hair routine!

Step One: In the Shower

I shampoo my hair every other day with Bed Head Control Freak Shampoo.  I love Bed Head products!  They have helped tame my frizz!

As far as conditioner goes..I just use whatever is in my shower.

Right now, we have Suave Professionals Humectant Moisture conditioner.  I apply conditioner to the ends of my hair.

Step Two: Right After the Shower

After my hair has dried for about ten minutes in a towel, I brush it.  Then, I apply the Bed Head Control Freak Serum to my hair.

I love this serum because it doesn't leave my hair and my hands feeling greasy.  It also really helps to eliminate frizz and fly-aways.

When my hair dries, I brush it out.

Step Three: Flat Iron Away

First, I use the John Freida Frizz-Ease Straight Protective Styling Spray to protect my hair from the potentially damaging heat of the flat iron.

Lastly, I straighten my hair with this Remington Flat Iron.

Spring Nail Art- Zig Zags and Chevrons

Hi Glambitous Beauties! Its Giana! So i really have been into 2012 Spring Fashion trends. Just so i can pick up all the right pieces for my next trip to the mall! As i was scrolling through websites i saw a lot of zigzags and chevrons. Check it out here!
http://www.fashionologie.com/Spring-2012-Trends-19102109?page=0,0,5#5

Anyways i thought about how cute it would be to incorporate a nail art design for this adorable trend! So i got to work! (scroll down to see final product)

Products used:

To complete this look i used Avon nailwear pro polish in shade NO2O Viva Pink, Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening base and top coat, Sally Hansen Ultimate shield base and top Coat, and Nail Art Fine Tip Nail Polish in black.

Step 1:

Using the Sally Hansen Double Duty i applied this as my base coat, feel free to apply anyone you prefer. I then let it dry for 2-3 minutes.

Step 2:

I then painted on my base color (Avon Viva Pink). I painted on two coats.

Step 3:

The tight zig zags. You will be doing this step on every other finger. I reccomend when your painting with your non dominant hand to do the tight zig zags on the index and pointer. This is because this step is harder and you would be doing it on two nails instead of 3.

On the side of your nail, create a diagonal line going upwards. Tip- use light brush strokes.

From here create a v shape, using light brush strokes create a downwards diagonal line.

Keep repeating this process until you reach the other side of your nail.

Step 4:

Now for the chevrons ( chevrons are wide zig zags.)

I created two v's using the nail art brush. Like shown above. I then filled in the space between them.

Step 5:

Now finish with a top coat to prevent your zig zags from chipping away! And now you are done! :) Make sure you don't get discouraged, it took me a few trys to get the zig zags and chevrons. And feel free to use what ever colors you choose!

Final Product:
Here is what I came up with! I hope you all like it! Leave a comment telling me your favorite spring trend!

Remember keep trying until you get it! Leave a comment below or email us at GlamCity2@gmail.com  if you  have any requests, comments, or questions. Lastly don't forget to Follow! If you do not have a blogger account you can always subscribe by email below.

Tutorial Tuesday- Night Look

Hi Glammies, it's Stella!  I hope you are all having a good day!
I decided to do an eye look for you all today.

Step One:

Prime Your Lids

I am using ELF eye lid primer.  You can pick this up at Target for just $1!

What brush am I using?

I am using an ELF eye shadow brush for this look.

Step 2:

Eye Shadow Time!

I decided to use the Coastal Scents Warm Palette for my eye look.

First, take the color in the second column over and the seventh row down and apply it to the outer half of your eye lids.

Next, take the color in the sixth column over and the second row down and apply it to the inner half of your eyelids.  Using gentle strokes, start to blend these colors outward.

Time for the crease color! Take the color in the first column over and the seventh row down and apply it to the crease.

Blending time!  Blend your crease a little bit to get rid of any harsh lines.

Finally, take the color in the first column over and the fourth row down and apply this as a highlight color.

Step 3:

Finish off this glammy look with your favorite mascara!

I am using Maybelline Illegal Length Mascara.  Apply the mascara in a quick side-to-side motion while working up.

The finished product:

I would normally wear this look at night because it is more dramatic, but you can definitely pull it off during the day time!
